a technically brilliant pianist imbued with a poignant lyricism and genuine profundity.” WUK Kulturhaus, Austria, 15 May 2010
A Crowning Achievement
The pianist Giorgi Latsabidze, an American
from Georgia currently working in Los Angeles
for his doctorate, following a much acclaimed
performance of Beethoven's 5 th Piano Concerto
with the City Concert Orchestra on May 25, has
now appeared in a solo concert. [...]
the pianist began with the famous Mephisto Waltz
of Liszt, the most technically difficult piece
of the performance. This was followed by the
2nd Chopin Sonata with the well-known funeral
March, and one of the most glorious Mozart Sonatas,
K.V. 311. The audience then demanded three Chopin
pieces as encores. The evening was a crowning
achievement that was rewarded with a standing
ovation.
Latsabidze is not only remarkable for his technical
brilliance but also for his high musical sensitivity.
Never placing himself at the forefront, he tries
to serve only the composer's intentions. His motto is "I want
to make people happy with my playing",
which was realized very well this evening. Despite
his great abilities, Giorgi Latsabidze remains a modest, lovable person.
This was evident to many listeners when the pianist joined the guests
after the concert and spent a wonderful evening with them until almost
midnight. A successful concert, a music experience that makes us happy
and grateful.

The highlight of the evening was, without a doubt, Beethoven's 5th Piano Concerto.
The highly gifted Georgian piano soloist Giorgi Latsabidze, while radiating
a modest and genuine demeanor, produced bravura playing that melded seamlessly
with the orchestra, resulting in a wonderfully colorful performance. The audience
sensed that "the orchestra could breathe and feel what it must do." Everyone
felt themselves fortunate to have such a highly-acclaimed artist visiting their
town who has won, among many other international awards, the coveted Rubinstein
prize in Paris . "Music is more than just a fascination" says Giorgi Latsabidze,
and his noble hands and an incredibly artistic nature disclose just what that
means . The tremendous applause was acknowledged with a Chopin Nocturne. Nothing
m ore was needed to be completely thrilled with him. [...]

Today a
brilliant star fell from heaven. Is is a huge undertaking

A "RAIN OF PEARLS" FOR
MUSIC LOVERS
"Every note of Chopin is a pearl
rained down from heaven," (Franz Liszt)..Music lovers filled
the Great Hall of the Tbilisi Conservatory as the young concert
pianist Giorgi Latsabidze. poured out a rain of
pearls . the notes
of the 24 piano etudes of
Chopin. The performance of all of them in one
evening, as if in one breath, presents a problem
of exceptional difficulty,
both artistically and in purely technical terms,
which yields to only a select few. One must say
that he managed this task completely, while demonstrating
high artistic craftsmanship. at
its heart a noble and delicate
artistic taste in the interpretation of this inspired
music, not giving way to excessive pace or pathos, .with
the main artistic goal of
recognizing the internal wealth and "aristocratic
spirit" of the music. [He has] previously astonished
with the scale and dynamics of his pianism.and
the harmonious combination of all these qualities
should . advance this talented Georgian pianist
out to the forefront of the
international stage. Success to you, Giorgi!

melancholy of this work with a rock solid technique and a singing
